Why pay thousands when Spirit School does it all for a few hundred? Files exported by Spirit School to Alberta Education or Sask Ed (or your school board) are indistinguishable from those of the expensive competition. Save time! Type a name once and have it appear every year on class lists, schedules, report cards, award lists, absentee slips, habitual lates, Alberta or Saskatchewan Education electronic registration and marks reporting.  Originally written for DOS in 1990, Spirit School is now a Windows program and it fully supports multi-day cycles and multiple users over a network.  It is a real Pascal program, not a cumbersome database system; you'll be amazed at its compact size and its speed.  

Student Records and Alberta/Saskatchewan student registration ($150)
    Enter the information required by Alberta’s Student Information System and create reg files for Edulink.  Ditto for Sask Ed.  This is all you really need for an elementary or junior high school.
    This module also displays attendance and marks by individual student, does various printouts and exports many kinds of data files including versatile user-designed reports.

Timetable, Scheduling & Marks modules ($100 plus $1 per student, grades 7 to 12).
    Enter your teacher timetable, manually or auto schedule students into it. Enter marks,  print report cards and export reports to Alberta or Saskatchewan Learning.
    Schedule hundreds of students, adjust timetable & repeat in 5 minutes. Check for diploma requirements. Print student schedules, class lists, etc. Print or export classlists to Marksheet. Report cards show up to 5 reporting periods, comments chosen from a list (or hand written), averages, attendance. Import marks & comments from Marksheet (auto schedules CTS modules when marks are imported!). Print awards list or certificates, diploma requirements attained, etc.

Attendance Module ($150).  This replaces the old register.  Enter daily absences (by period or half day), print absentee list, record reasons for absence. Also prints reports for students who exceed a series of thresholds, and automatically generates letters to parents. Records transfers in and out, prints all the reports you need.

Classroom Attendance ($200) - Requires a networked computer in each classroom. Teachers can access the attendance records really conveniently; they see the attendance record from the previous periods and just click on a student to move him from the "present" to the "absent" list.  This module includes a client/server version of the main Spirit School program.  Spirit School Server runs on your server and both Spirit School and ClassAtt make all changes to the data through the server program.

Spirit School Recent Changes

• Update to version 1.2.   New family data fields so an "updater" program must be used to update your student data.  Extra email fields, longer phone fields, new notes and some things for future use have been added.  The family data has been incorporated into the student data so you no longer have to "choose a family" for each new student.  New html help (compatible with Vista).  There is a charge for this update - your school name will not appear on your printouts until you purchase a new ID file for your school.   (August 22)
• Bug in scheduling and family printouts when doing the whole grade - it gets the family name wrong (Sept 1)
• Bug in displaying family data - dad email got replaced by mom email (Oct 21)
• Print-transcript command was somehow disabled (Nov 3)

• Bug in student module, display of averages below the student's list of classes.  All zeros instead of averages.  (Jan 13,)
• Bug in handling student with a finished diploma exam course with no final mark - affects transcript, diploma list and cum display.  Credits were counted and the average on the cum display was incorrect.  Now the course is ignored in counts and calcs.  (Jan 14)
• Marks module, enter marks page: when moving down a column the mark did not show as selected (Jan 28)

Downloading:
Click on the underlined link just below.  Windows will ask you to choose a location on your hard drive or desktop. 

Download Update12, the program for updating your student data from version 1.1 to version 1.2 (August 22, 2008)
Run Update12setup.exe to unzip Update12.exe into your Spirit folder.  Make a backup of the Spirit folder just in case.  Run Update12 to change the format of your student data.  Update12.exe will not be needed again.
