The Principal's Naughty & Nice List takes your student discipline records out of the filing cabinet and onto your computer screens.  When dealing with a student, you can instantly see his history on the screen.

1. Teachers can submit student referrals electronically via the school network with very little typing (or administrator can enter it)
2. Administrators click their actions, type a comment and it goes into history
3. Automatic email back to the teacher (or print it out)
4. Stats let you see the trends

You can edit the list of reasons and actions in the program that adminstrators use.
 

This is the program adminstrators use to deal with referrals:

This program checks for referrals every minute and can pop up on the screen with a beep when it finds a new one.  At the upper left, you choose a referral you want to work with.  Click your actions at the bottom (note room for another 6 actions).  Your comment goes at the lower left.  When you click "Dealt With" it goes into the student history, and a copy goes back to the teacher.

There are two methods of returning the referral to the teacher: via email and via the Referral program's history button.

Photos are optional; they can be scanned in, taken with a digital camera, or you can buy them from Jostens.
Staff names and email addresses must be typed in.
Student names and ID's can be typed or imported from a text file report that you export from your student records software.

The teacher can receive the dealth-with referral by email and/or view it in the Referral program by clicking its history button:

This history screen for teachers shows their referrals waiting for admin action, those that have recently been dealt with, and the teacher can look at any student's history.  He can doubleclick on his own referrals only to see the full details.  This window is one click away when the teacher is filling out a new referral.  Besides being of immediate use, it makes the point that each referral adds to the student record.

Naughty & Nice works with Windows (95,98,2000,XP, NT4)
A school network is needed for teachers to send referrals electronically.
An email system enables the dealt-with referrals to be sent back to teachers automatically.
N&N also works with Spirit School to display student history in that program.

Recent changes

• Major revision to fix bugs and add the teacher's history window to the referral program.  Note: the referral program now reads the teacher's login name from Windows as a security measure.  These usernames must be typed into the staff page of Naughty&Nice before the new features will work.  Also, teachers now require full access to the new staff folder inside the Naughty&Nice\admin\data folder, where their dealt-with referrals are stored.  Nov 7, 2002.
• Bug in Referral history grid.  No matter which line you doubleclicked on, it always displayed the first referral. (Nov 12)
• New "print" button on the history page (in the Naughty&Nice program) so you can print out the student's discipline history.
• Referrals in the history now appear listed in chronological order by referral date.
• You can edit the comments in a student's history  (March 12, 2003)
• Statistics page did not work for admin actions (June 22, 2003)
• Option to require identification of teacher by Windows network login name (Feb 28, 2004)
  
• In Referral, a reason MUST be checked before it can be sent to admin.
• Administrator's initials are shown in the history
• Stats now includes a "Who did ..." option so you can see a list of who was referred for fighting and when.  Thanks to the people at the Mighty Peace Teachers Convention session for these 3 suggestions!  (March 7, 2004)
• Number of teachers increased to 50 (June 16, 2004)

Installation: run the downloaded "MakeNN.exe"; click "unzip", "ok", "close".
Open my computer, C drive, Naughty&Nice folder.
Make a shortcut to "Referral.exe" in the teacher folder.
